house of opium museum is a private museum founded by Khun Phatcharee Srimatayakun, which started with the opening of shops selling souvenirs and antiques. Subsequently, Patcharee realized that antiques will be all sold out . Therefore she began the idea of making a museum in order to conserve antiques . Museum Name is from Mr. Rong Wongsawan, writer and national artist . Patcharee researched all opium information from the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, Universities ,and book reference . Her friends from Mahidol University translated all content to English version . Exhibition display technique is from vocational students. Most of the accumulated objects are came from buying from nearly places thru southern China including the trade of antiques. All objects have reference lists. There are about 300 pieces of exhibits, approximately 1,680 pieces in the inventory, with additional expansion plans. The exhibits in the museum are divided into 2 levels. The ground floor is divided into 8 zones.
