Information
Not only one of Thailand’s provinces, but Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya was once the highly flourishing and longest-running capital of the kingdom. For this reason, there are stories everywhere, along with traces of civilisation, sacred places and priceless archaeological finds. The city was inscribed on the World Heritage List of UNESCO on 1 December 1991.
Having realised the importance of traditional wisdom in various aspects of this old capital, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University established the Ayutthaya Studies Institute within the university’s area. With the aim to gather knowledge and to serve as a learning centre on the community’s precious cultural heritage, the institute was officially launched in August 2006.
There are exhibitions on studies, research, conservation, promotion and propagation of information on history, archaeology, art and culture, lifestyle and local wisdom.
