After Tsunami disaster in Southern of Thailand in 2007, Baan Tung Wah Village – the Moken Sea Gypsy Cultural Center had been established by the cooperation of Governmental agency, private sector, foundation and organizations, to narrate the history, background, beliefs, lifestyles and cultures of Moken tribe.
Inside the building, exhibits the stories of Moken Sea Gypsy living within the sea, also myths, legends, beliefs of relationship among boat, human and the sea. Including Photo gallery, replica boat and the mock village of Moken house. The special characters of Moken house are 9 columns and 5 stairs, which means advance in life and prosperity. Other appliances such as coconut dish, showering bowl for Chian Mak, wood pan for frying rice, and hunting bow are also displayed.

Getting There
1. By car, take Highway No.4 (Petchkasem Rd.) from Bangkok , Estimate distance is 788 km ,
11-12 hrs
2. By bus - there are both Air-conditioned and normal buses services every day, on Bangkok – Phang-nga route, start from Southern bus terminal, estimate duration 10 hrs.
3. By Airplane - there is no direct flight to Phang-Nga, but can travel by plane arrived at Phuket or Krabi island, then ride a bus to Phang-Nga, and from Phang-Nga bus station to Takuapa district, estimate distance is 65 km.
