Learning Tsunami Story Through Phang Nga’s “Walk & Run for Tsunami Learning 2023” Route  Phang Nga is a province where was hit by tsunami in 2004. Ban Nam Khem, located in Bang Muang sub-district of Phang Nga was one of the most affected and damaged area. Local people in Ban Nam Khem were devastated from the loss of properties, possession, and people whom they love. The loss and the grieve have driven local people in Ban Nam Khem to go all out for getting everyone safe from tsunami.  The “Walk & Run for Tsunami Learning 2023” running route of Phang Nga is the concrete reflection of the willingness and preparedness of Ban Nam Khem community to minimize the calamity caused by a tsunami. They jointly worked to find the suitable evacuation route, locate the tsunami safe areas and officially announced this information so that everyone knows where and which way they should run to when the tsunami warning is alerted. The starting point of this running route is Tsunami Memorial Park in Ban Nam Khem. This memorial park has been built to remind everyone of the casualty from tsunami in 2004. The arch tunnel that looks like a tsunami wave representing tsunami hit on December, 2004 and the wall inscribed with the name of tsunami victims are the memorial monuments of the casualties caused by the event. The finish line of this route is Ban Nam Khem school. When the tsunami hit Thailand in 2004, Ban Nam Khem school was the evacuation place for affected people. Considering by its location and facility, Ban Nam Khem school is considered as a tsunami safe place, therefore, Ban Nam Khem community decided to choose Ban Nam Khem school to be the evacuation place when a tsunami comes. Also, people in Ban Nam Khem help keeping the signs along the way in a good condition to make sure that everyone is able to see the sign clearer and evacuate much quicker.
