Ban Sao Nak is meant a house with many pillars in local language , built in 1885 by Mong Chan-Oon, Chantaravirot, a Burmese who settled in Lampang once Lampang city was the teak wood industrial center in the north .The architecture of the house combines both Burmese and Lanna indigenous styles. By the house balcony was influenced from Burmese architecture while the roof and structure are generally traditional Lanna style .There are two big bedrooms connected by a roof. Living room area is throughout to the front of the house. House Name was came from Mr Thanadsri Sawatdiwat, because there are 116 teak pillars. The area of the house is about 3 rai, consisting of a large house, a garage and granary .There are 2 ponds in front of the house and 1 pond behind the house, Sarapee Luang Tree is at the entrance that is older than the house. In 1964, the house was in the possession of Khun Ying Walai. Leelanuch (the granddaughter of the house builder) .The house structure was deteriorated over time. Therefore, there was a major renovation of the house under the control of Khun Taweesak Chantaravirot, an well-known architect. It took more than 10 years to finish . The ground was raised from the original to prevent flooding. Some pillars were plastered and used plywood to splice. Even teak is durable, but decayed over time . The patio was changed to tiles , sealing of the teak with zinc and took out the old granary and replaced new granary same as the original . After Khun Ying Walai Leelanuch passed away , no one lives in Ban Sao. Next Khun Chada Chiwarak (the wife of the only son of Khun Ying Walai - Lt. Col Wanchak Waiyawut) is house owner and opened Sao Nak to be tourist attraction and Seminar Organization . Sao Nak displays the ancient items by arranging in the showcases such as Yeng Chang (seat on the elephant) of the Lampang ruler, antique cabinets , Pressing Machine of Pha Muang , iron strongbox, lacquer, silverware, Lanna small silver box (Ab) for inputting the Betel nuts, Khmer art and Song Plu . There are lecture books. The wall is attached the painting of Chao Dara Rassamee ‘s and First House Owner .
