With a long history of broadcasting and public relations in the early eras, Broadcasting Museum and Archive of Public Relations Department were established with the aim to conserve broadcasting and public relations equipment and devices. Later generations of people will be able to learn the history of broadcasting device development, as well as to envision social and cultural changes resulting from the influences of broadcasting in each era.
Started in 1933, the formation of the museum was conducted with conformity to the policy of Government Public Relations Department. A department involving in the promotion of public education was established in order to support the dissipation of knowledge for Thai people through a variety of ways, including speech, films and museum.
Nowadays, the museum provides academic services and tells the story of Thailand’s broadcasting history in the early years, as well as the progression of the Public Relations Department.
In the future, the Archive of Public Relations Department will serve as the source of study that fulfills the dimensions of broadcasting history with complete information on the history of broadcasting and public relations, including the background of radio-television, biography of programme hosts in the early ages and broadcasting programmes that have been honoured in the past and present days. In addition, those who are keen to learn about the history of Public Relations Department can explore information regarding the background of the department, achievements of employees and external parties, as well as memorabilia and relevant artifacts, such as anniversary publications, photographs, invitations, souvenirs, guestbooks, etc. All of which have clearly reflected the overall picture of bygone events of the department that has been part of the whole society we live in.
Broadcasting Museum was officially launched on 3 May 2005, which coincided with the 72nd Anniversary of the Public Relations Department, whereas the Archive of Public Relations Department will commence provision of public service at a later time.
