Museum information: Chiang Mai National Museum is a regional museum. The Fine Arts Department established to be the center of education to conserve and service of information on the arts and culture of Chiang Mai and the upper north, or ancient times called Lanna. In 1996 , Chiang Mai National Museum was repaired and renovated along with improving the permanent exhibition to have academic content and various techniques for exhibiting both in natural history, archeology, prehistoric times, history, ethnology and the art of Lanna by dividing into 6 parts.
Part 1 Background of Lanna : Display a geological and ancient life story, landscape and environment of the north, Human settlement Prehistoric times ,including the story of the Lua and Hariphunchai, the first state in the north
Part 2 The history of Lanna Kingdom : Starting from the establishment of Chiang Mai, Prosperity and the deterioration of the kingdom
Part 3 The story of Chiang Mai under the Siam Kingdom : the salvation of Burma,the establishment of Chiang Mai city in 2339 and the relationship with Siam Kingdom
Part 4 Trading and Economic: Story between 2339-1920 and the second phase between 1924-1939. Construction of the northern railway line
Part 5 Story of living and social development such as agriculture and industry, finance, banking, foreign relations, including education and public health.
Part 6 The evolution of Lanna arts and art in Thailand.

Important exhibits: Earthen disciples Buddha Mold , Hariphunchai Art in 17th-18th century Buddhist, Buddha image in The attitude of subduing Mara (bronze), Lanna art, 19th-20th century Buddhist from Wat Phra Singh, Worawihan, Coat of Yemenof Major General Prince Kaew Nawarat , last King of Lanna and Prince Ruler of Chiang Mai, reigning from 1910 to 1939 .
