Information
The Province of Chumphon had donated a 7-rai of land to the Department of Fine Arts for establishing the town's national museum. This is carried out with the purpose to instill in the community the love and pride in its origin, and that the people will join together in conserving their valuable heritage.
Located in a two-storey building, Chumphon National Museum is a combination of local southern architecture and contemporary style, making it an outstanding and modern structure. Inside, the museum consists of a library, a meeting room, a multi-purpose room, an office, a storage for ancient artifacts and a shop for souvenirs and books. The museum's permanent exhibition room can be divided into 8 categories of:
1. Chumphon Today: illustrating the stories of Chumphon in the present days
2. Chumphon in Pre-Historic Era: Archaeological evidence showed that there was a pre-historic community in the area of Chumphon Province.
3. Historic First Step: presenting stories from the aspects that motivated people to settle down in Chumphon Province during the late pre-historic era to the development of ancient communities
4. Chumphon Historic Era: During this period, only the legend of the Phra That of the town of Nakhon Si Thammarat indicated that Chumphon was a lesser-town among its Twelve Zodiac cities with the seal of a goat. The name of Chumphon appeared again during the period of Sukhothai, Ayutthaya and Rattanakosin.
5. Chumphon during World War II and Heroic Deeds of the Military Youth: presenting the stories from World War II
6. Chumphon and Urbanization amidst the Power of Typhoon: illustrating the climate conditions of Chumphon with its persistent temperance during rainy season
7. Chumphon Natural History and Outstanding Heritage
8. Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse, Prince of Chumphon: telling the short biography of the prince such as His family line, His good deeds for the town of Chumphon and the Royal Thai Navy along with the establishment of the Royal Thai Navy

Important / Interesting artifacts
Bronze drum from Khao Sam Gaew Archaeological Site with its front part decorated with pattern of stars or 8 storks flying in counter-clockwise movement. The characteristics and patterns of this bronze drum is similar to the one found in Vietnam's Dong Son culture which could date back to 2,700-1,900 years ago.

20 Baht for Thai citizens and 100 Baht for foreigners
Students in uniform as well as monks, novices and priests of other religions are exempted from the entrance fee.
Getting There
- By car: Take Highway no.35 (Thonburi-Pak Tor) then enter Highway no. 4 (Phetkasem). Travel through Phetchaburi and Prachaup Kiri Khan Provinces until reaching Pathompon Intersection. Turn left towards the town of Chumphon and continue on Highway no.4001 for about 8 kilometers. The distance is around 463 kilometers.
- By bus: Bangkok-Chumphon normal and air-conditioned buses operated by both Transport Co. and private firms leave the Southern Bus Terminal on Borommaratchachonnani Road daily. The journey takes around 6 hours.

By train: Bangkok-Chumphon train leaves Bangkok Railway Station (Hua Lamphong) daily with selection of both rapid and express trains.
