Information
Hidden Siam or the Folk Wisdom Museum of Wat Bang Kradi was founded in 1995 by Mr. Thawatchapong Monda as there was a time when outsiders came into the community and bought antiques. He then had an idea to preserve this cultural heritage in the community using the space under a Thai house and a waterfront pavilion. The exhibits include traditions of ordination, marriage, Mon people’s funerals, Mon-style kitchen, Mon’s costumes and utensils used in ceremonies and daily life. Later, the Mon Cultural Center was named Hidden Siam. The exhibits in the other side of the museum, which is situated in a waterfront pavilion near Klong Sanam Chai include basketwork, musical instruments and a palanquin for installing Buddha images in ceremonies etc.
