Information
In 1962 King Bhumibhol and Queen Sirikit came to Nong Yat Reservoir during their royal visit to Nakhon Phanom. Located next to Nakhon Phanom Municipality, the reservoir covers around 2,500 rai. It is home to various kinds of marine life and became an important breeding facility. Nong Yat Aquarium is of medium size where it houses a large vivarium for extinguished and existing kind of fish from Mae Khong river. A highlight is an underwater tunnel where you can enjoy observing fish behavior. There is also an exhibition on Mekong fish, a modern audiovisual room for 50 seats and a souvenir shop. This building is known as a modern and useful freshwater aquarium.

Getting There
With private car: From Bangkok, take Highway number 1 (Phaholyothin) to Saraburi at the kilometre number 107. Then turn right to Highway number 2 (Mittraphap). Pass Nakhon Ratchasima, Ban Pai District. Then turn right to Highway number 23 until reaching Maha Sarakham. Then take Highway number 213, pass Kalasin to Sakon Nakhon. Then take Highway number 22 to Nakhon Phanom. From the city center, drive along Highway number 2033. The destination is beside the Hall of honor Royals Chakri.
