Information
Wang Thewa Wesm Museum was originally a palace of His Royal Highness Prince Devawongse Varopakarn. Wang Thewa Wesm was designed by Edward Healy, a British architect, who also supervised its construction. It is a 3-storey European-style building, facing the Chao Phraya River. It is in Neo-classical art which features Ionic columns at the entrance to the palace and Corinthian columns on the wall of the upper floor. The construction was completed in 1918. After His Royal Highness Prince Devawongse Varopakarn passed away in 1923, the Ministry of Health bought Wang Thewa Wesm from his heirs. Later, it served as a ministry office and the land was exchanged with the Bank of Thailand. The exhibition covers 4 buildings, which are the large building, the waterfront houseboat, Mom Lamai’s house and Mom Chan’s house.
