Information
Kamlang Aek Museum was established on April 30, 1971 by Colonel Raewat Boontab. He consulted his commanders, as well as both the public and private sectors, to build a monument and a museum to illustrate the bravery of the troops. With the cooperation of both the government and the private sector, an amount of budget was set up to carry out the construction of the monument as a memorial to soldiers who had died in the battlefield. The rest of the budget was used to build a museum as a place to collect biographies and historical evidence of the military unit. It was named “Kamlang Aek Museum” as to honor the good deeds of General Arthit Kamlang Aek. The permanent exhibits within the museum are about the battles of soldiers and units in the past and weapons and equipment seized from the enemy. There are two cabinets displaying portraits of His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen and the royal family, 15 cabinets simulating events in operation areas, photos of commanders of the 23rd department of infantry from the past to present, as well as paintings of Thai heroes in different ages.
