Chaloem Phrakiat Lotus Pond was established in 2010 to be a source for lotus and water lily species and to support the International Conference of Lotus which was held on the same year at Kasetsart University Sakon Nakhon Campus and to be a study center for students, a leisure park for general public, and a new attraction of Sakon Nakhon. Today, Chaloem Phrakiat Lotus Pond is divided into 3 areas:

1. Lotus and water lily collection area - a large pond on 10 rai area sheltering 34 species of lotuses and water lilies, both domestic and international, such as Victoria, various species of Nymphaea lotuses, and western lotuses and lilies. The area provides boardwalk above the pond where visitors can closely observe the lotuses and lilies.
2. Lotuses and water Lilies exhibition - where 74 species of lotus and lilies are showcases in pots allowing visitors to be closes to the plants.
3. Exhibition areas - taking place on the ground floor of the research and development building. The educational exhibition showcases history and origin of different species of lotuses and lilies, suitable for study and research.
