Known as Thailand’s Farmer Prince, HSH Prince Sithiporn Kridakara was truly the pioneer who dedicated his life to Thai agriculture and farmers. The Prince initiated joint plantation at Bang Berd Farm as a model and alternative for the new middle class people. Later, the ownership of the land was transferred to the State Property for farmers to lease. In 1989, Kasetsart University had requested the use of land at Bang Berd Farm to establish a research station before the establishment of museum underwent in 1991 to commemorate HSH Prince Sithiporn Kridakara and honour his achievements. Here visitors will view the royal biography of the Prince and Mom Sripohm, his wife, as well as the background of Sithiporn Kridakara Research Station, the evolution of agricultural equipment and crop improvement.
The three-storey building includes a basement. The first floor portrays the background of Bang Berd Farm and the early stage that HSH Prince Sithiporn Kridakara begun his farming. His intention was to test the farming and livestock production. Visitors will view an extraordinarily large plough. There are pictures showing that the Prince had compared farming methods and found that the power-operated plough was fast but too costly, in terms of fuel and maintenance. He turned to working animals whereby the use of large harrow and elephant replaced the machine. There are also two water pumps of the same age that were powered by water flow, which demonstrate that the Prince had to depend on natural source for the use water in his daily life. There is an explanation of the monument project that Kasetsart University has initiated and is ongoing today.
The second floor features the works and the royal biography of HSH Prince Sithiporn Kridakara, ranging from his birth, education, marriage, occupation and his turning point into agriculture. There are also personal possessions and log books. Some of which were supposedly written during his time at Bang Berd Farm as there are the sign of red-wattled lapwing and two Thai alphabets that can be understood as Bang Berd, which was the dwelling of red-wattled lapwings with their unique noises. There are also books composed by the Prince, including kasikam bon don (agriculture on the plateau) and kasikorn. There is also the biography of Mom Sripohma and a small room that features the background on the establishment of this museum. There are old photos that show the life in Bang Berd Farm, as well as a sketch of the foundation of old building. Along with memories of his descendants, the key to discover the Prince’s lost home was frangipani and kapok trees. Once the two plants were found, the excavation for building foundation commenced and succeeded thereafter. The exhibition room has a view of the original location of the Prince’s residence nearby. Far across the gorge, the vista of the sea can be seen. In addition, the room has a model sample of the Prince’s statue.
The third floor is currently undergoing a transformation into a planetarium, alongside the other section that displays the works of Sithiporn Kridakara Research Station, including palm oil production and horse crab breeding for conservation.

The Ramon Magsaysay Award medal in Public Service for the development of Thai agriculture that HSH Prince Sithiporn Kridakara received from the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation in August 1967. There are also personal possessions of the Prince and Mom Sripohm, his wife, that reflect their simple way of life.

Getting There
From Bangkok, use Phetkasem Road (Highway 4). Pass Mueang, Bang Saphan and Bang Saphan Noi Districts in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. Turn left into Highway 1018 at approximately 6 kilometres before Khao Pho Service Area Center. Continue for 6.5 kilometres to arrive Sithiporn Kridakara Research Station.
