Museum and Learning Center for Knowledge in Petroleum Technology ,Fang, Chiang Mai, is the beginning of the petroleum exploration in Thailand . It has begun to search for crude oil in 1921 by HRH Prince of Kamphaengphet, when he held the title of Prince Purachatra Jayakara was Commander of the Royal Siamese Railway. By drilling the area of the Chao Luang pond and operated Petroleum business under the Department of Military Energy at the Northern Petroleum Development Center . Their business manages including exploration, drilling, production and refining of petroleum which is the only agency in Thailand that can provide all this matter. . Therefore is an important starting point for seeking and bringing petroleum and is a source of petroleum knowledge in the country as well. To convey the petroleum history, origin , petroleum Implementation, methods of petroleum operations, Department of Military Energy built a museum and a petroleum learning center to be useful for training and learning in petroleum energy and various energy . It is opened for students and public . Moreover it also promotes tourism in Fang district . Chiang Mai province .Museums and petroleum learning centers is divided into 5 parts:
Part 1: Origin of Petroleum : It displays geological characteristics which is the source of fossil energy in Thailand. It is shown two half globe models with different layers of soil, including oil drilling machine models in order to show the drilling process that are passing through stone layer to petroleum layer . It is focused on land drilling and process of Fossil energy
Part 2: History of Fang Oil Business, Production Process and Petroleum Products : Presenting the history of the discovery of crude oil (petroleum) from the earliest times to the present day under the supervision of the Department of Military Energy . Moreover presenting the origin of the million-year-old world energy (Fossil) in Thailand , History and Present day of the Royal Siamese Railway ,Department of transportation, Department of Army fuels , Department of Metallurgical, Department of Military Energy .
Part 3: Exploration, production and refining of petroleum : Presenting procedures for exploration, drilling and petrochemical production, oil refining technology , development of Petroleum process in upper North area and petroleum drilling in Fang District and the northern part of Thailand . Including products from oil refining and the history of oil operations at Fang District
Part 4: Energy Consumption Statistics : Presenting Thai evolution information and energy situation from the past to the present both locally and globally . Including the energy consumption trend of Thailand in the future.The proportion of petroleum energy consumption in each region within the country and around the world.
