Information
Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) begins from Mr. Boonchai Bencharongkul’s great passion for Art. However, the main reason that Mr. Boonchai officially established the museum is to honor the sense of divine grace in the context of his Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, also to honor the father of Thai Contemporary Art, Professor Silpa Bhirasri.
The inspired concept of Museum of Contemporary Art building’s exterior adorned with whole granite, hand-carved to be jasmine sculpture, which presents the unique of Thai identity. Not only, the stencils allow natural light shining into the building, but also create different feelings in various seasons. Inside of the museum is divided into 5 floors:
G Floor - A hall for exhibiting sculptures by Master Paitun Muangsomboon, National Artist in Sculpture and a hall for exhibiting paintings and sculptures by Professor Chalood Nimsamer.
2nd Floor displays contemporary art.
3rd Floor displays imagination and fantasy in Thai contemporary art,
4th Floor exhibits several kinds of artworks created by the remarkable artist of the era, Master Thawan Duchanee, National Artist. The highlight of this floor is the 3 gigantic contemporary paintings “The Three Kingdoms - Heaven, Earth, and Hell”
