Established as a learning centre, the Nakhon Si Thammarat Science Center for Education offers a wide variety of non-formal and informal education, covering learning services in 4 aspects as follows:
1. Exhibition Services comprise different types of exhibitions, which are permanent, temporary and mobile exhibitions.
Permanent exhibition inside and outside the building, including exhibitions on the secrets of the Earth, the world of geology, astronomy and the space, petroleum, 3D films, Science Park, Adventure Park, the cycle of water, fish varieties, Basic Science.
Temporary exhibition on interesting topics, such as the Father of Thai Science and the Genius in Science of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Mobile exhibition, mobile planetarium and related activities as requested by schools, universities, organisations, as well as science events.
2. Science Camps are provided by Nakhon Si Thammarat Science Center for Education, which involves many educating activities that emphasise fun and happy experiments outside the classroom. Outdoor activities are conducted in the middle of nature in Khao Khun Phanom and nearby communities for learners to learn from the surroundings, using science skills and procedures. Every activity identifies the class and performance of learners in 5 aspects, which are communication, analytical, problem solving, life skills and use of technology, according to the Basic Education Core Curriculum B.E.2551. Science camps were designed to serve the purposes of learning with clear and concise procedures. Each activity finishes within 3 hours. Categorised by concept and relevant process, there are 6 activity groups as follows:
2.1 Play & Learn comprises 4 activities, including Science Show, Math Magic, Global Warming Battle and Thai toys with new scientific values.
2.2 ‘The power of thinking’ comprises 5 activities, including Inquiry, Discovery, Walk Rally, Dream Pawn and Criminal Hunt.
2.3 ‘Art and craft’ comprises 3 activities, including the art of candle imprinted fabric, tie dye and para parian activity.
2.4 ‘Forest, the Earth, stone and water’ comprises 6 activities, including forest exploring in the southern roof, river detective, little geologist, little meteorologist activity and cliff climber.
2.5 ‘Sky Decoding’ features ‘The lens and our sky’ activity.
2.6 Science for Kids, featuring activities for 3-8 years old children, comprises 5 activities, including Magic Science, amazing air, Test Body, toys and secrets, and the super science activity.
3. Learning Activities comprise different types of activities as follows:
- Festival, such as the world of science festival, science roadshow, etc.
- Competition, such as Science Show
- National Children Day
- The Science Week
4. Academic Services embrace the following scope:
- Provision of key speakers on science topics
- Arrangement of meeting/training/seminar on science and technology
- Media services in the form of hardcopy, printed materials and VCD
- Provision of knowledge via science articles and lessons on e-learning system on www.nakhonsci.com
