“Peranakan Phuket Museum” is the exhibition that simulates the history, way of life, occupation, dwelling, cuisine, costume and accessories of Phuket residents through advanced technology that is comprehensive and amusing. There is also “YAYA Kitchen”, which offers a great variety of famous local dishes and desserts for visitors to experience.
The museum features interesting items, antique, as well as rare and old items, such as conventional postal scale, antique telegraph machine, history books, old photos, examples of Phuket’s traditional architecture that reflect the lifestyle of people in Phuket and Penang who related to each other for trading of tin, food and other commodities by which had led to other mutual activities.
Exhibition is divided into various rooms as follows:
Room 1 The Beginning of Peranakan
The exhibition portrays the history of Peranakan, starting from sailing from China to Thailand to settling down in Phuket.
Room 2 Building and Architecture
The exhibition features simulated architecture of local houses and building, which are the combination of Chinese and Western styles.
Room 3 Phuket Shop House
The exhibition highlights details of traditional houses of Phuket residents, including facade, living room, kitchen, bedroom and home appliances.
Room 4 Goldsmith’s Workshop
The room features Peranakan jewellery, goldsmith’s tools and production procedures, including molding, decorating with stones and polishing.
Room 5 Peony Room
The exhibition features costumes from different eras of Peranakan, starting from migrating to Thailand, adapting to different environments to today’s sustainability.
Room 6 Tradition
The exhibition features the local tradition of Phuket that has harmonised with different cultures and become unique nowadays.

The exhibition features primitive accessories whereby not only Peranakan’s favourite pieces are exhibited, but there is also the video that represents manufacturing procedures of traditional craftsmen. Visitors will enjoy watching the delicate beauty of pattern and meticulousity of each procedure, as well as goldsmith’s tools which are rare to find.

Getting There
From Phuket City, use Thep Krasatree Road (outbound) and continue for 17 kilometres. The Garden will be on your left, opposite to HomePro Thalang Branch (or 15 kilometres away from Phuket International Airport).
