Information
Founded in 2013, the building was once the City Hall of Phetchabun. When the City Hall relocated to a new location, the Municipality Office requested to use the venue as the Archaeology Hall for the display of history and archaeology of Phetchabun. The place features a great hall, coffee room and “Kitchen of Phetchabun” room. The exhibition portrays stories of Phetchabun from the prehistoric to Sri Thep era, as well as from Sukhothai, Ayutthaya to Rattanakosin era and the modern age. There are also the cultural library of Phetchabun, as well as a temporary exhibition room and tourist service centre. Interestingly, the name “Phetchabun Intrachai” belongs to Prince Chadadhuj Dharadilok or Prince of Phetchabun Intrachai, the 72nd son of King Chulalongkorn.
Phetchabun Intrachai Archaeology Hall consists of 4 rooms, including Room 1 - The Thai Phetchabun Cinema simulates Phetchabun’s first cinema; Room 2 - From Khana Mount to Sri Thep portrays the history of Phetchabun from prehistoric to Sri Thep era; Room 3 - Background of Phetchabun city in Sukhothai era highlights the evidence which proved that the original name of Phetchabun was Phetchabura and Room 4 – The proposal to relocate Thailand’s capital to Phetchabun. There are also the city pillar room, the yesterday’s Phetchabun room, Phetchabun Legend room and the Kitchen of Phetchabun room.
