Information
The museum is the gift of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and Her SUPPORT Foundation to the people of Thailand. In 1976, Her Majesty created SUPPORT to further encourage the production of traditional Thai handicrafts.
The establishment of the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles embodies Her Majesty’s efforts to assure the preservation of Thailand’s textile arts for future generations.
Gallery 1 In honor of the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 7th cycle birthday anniversary on August 12, 2016, the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles will mount Fit For A Queen, a new exhibition that focuses on the 22-year-long working relationship between Her Majesty and French couturier Pierre Balmain.
Gallery 2 Dressing Gods and Demons: Costumes for Khon celebrates the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 7th cycle birthday anniversary on August 12, 2016. The exhibition describes the origins of khon and its historical presentation. It then highlights the modern khon costumes created for the revival of this important art form by Her Majesty. The galleries will display old and new khon costumes, masks and jewelry.
Activity room Here visitors of all ages can increase their textile knowledge by playing games, answering questions, and touching objects similar to the ones shown in the galleries upstairs
The exhibitions and activity room will open to the public on 4 August 2016.
