Museum information. Rong Meng temple was founded on October 1, 1984 by Phrakhru Sriphong Kovitto (Boon Peng) .Later he had ecclesiastical peer holds a rank and a title as Phra Kru Kovit Thammasophon as Abbot and Nong Yaeng Ecclesiastical Commune-Chief, San Sai District, Chiang Mai . With a special interest in preserving valuable artifacts Buddha images, antiques, artifacts, daily life appliances, he collected them for long time . He started to collect “Pim Din Ki “. It is a mold of bricklaying to build the pond. It is used to display at the table in front of his cubicle and also 100 pieces of crockeries and tiles, etc. Once villagers saw and asked him about them . Phra Kru will explain the history ,usage and purpose of keeping things . People in the neighboring villages were aware of the ancient artifacts .They brought old appliances, old Buddha images to give and keep as a museum in this temple, including about 1,000 pieces. Next the temple committee realized that the place was too small and tide to keep them all so they decided to expand the cabinets into 3 cubicle rooms. However, it was not convenient for the people to visit because of the very narrowness. Therefore Phra Kru Kovit Thammasophon built the building and brought the ancient artifacts and various appliances for Buddhist purposes to display for visitors and interested people . People always donate their belonging until the present day more than 5,000 pieces of antiques and folk art objects . Bangkok people also donated antiques to the Wat Rong Meng Museum . The second building was built to show the objects that were received. Inside the museum has Wall painting of way of life of villagers, Culture and tradition. Moreover important antique is a mold of bricklaying to build the pond.
