Kuden Mansion was built by Phraya Phuminatphakdi or Tonku Baharudin Bin Tammangong, the governor of Satun in 1902 in the reign of King Rama V. With the Colonial European-style architecture, built as a residence for his majesty the King, when he should visit the South, but never been used. Later, transform to be important places, such as the residence Satun’s Governors, A Japanese army headquarter, Satun City Hall, a school, and the Office of Internal Security Operations Command (I.S.O.C.)
With its historical significance and distinctive architectural styles, The Department of Fine Arts declared and registered Kuden Mansion as a national historic site, and renovated the building as to be the national museum of the town, collecting and exhibiting information of town history, traditions, local art and culture of Satun people.
The exhibition is categorized into each room, as follows;
Room 1: Information room, serviced for book reading, researching, and community services.
Room 2 : Background of Satun room, Exhibits backgrounds of Satun in different areas such as geography, geology, prehistoric story. Key important events in the history of Satun town, lifestyle of Sakai minority, and the story of Tarutao island. The exhibition also display of archeological artifacts found in Satun, samples of mineral resources of the province, and simulated scenes of key events.
Room 3: Satun’s lifestyle room, Displaying Satun culture in various views, including a sea gypsy life on Li pe island, traditional Pottery at Yan Sue village. Fishermen live at Tammalang Village, by showing with media that simulate lifestyle of culture.
Room 4: Governor house room, exhibit bibliography of Phraya Phuminatphakdi, who built the Kuden Mansion. Displaying as the way that Phraya Phuminatphakdi used to set his house in each corner, such as Bedroom corner, Living room corner, and working corner.
Room 5: Satun local terrace, illustrate the replica house of Satun’s local people, displaying in different views such as kitchen, bedroom, and function room.
Room 6: A contemporary reception room in Kuden Mansion. Displaying a contemporary reception room, which was reconstructed according to the original style.
Room 7: The Satun’s Thai-Muslim culture room. Display model cabinet and Thai-Muslim culture plays, model featuring pondok school image, a corner of prayer room, the religious ceremony, and Modeling of marriage ceremony.

Getting There
1. By car, from Bangkok, take Highway no. 4 (Petchakasem) pass Prachuab Kirikhan, Chumphon, Nakorn Sithammarat Pattalung , Song Khla till Satun province, total distance around 973 km.
2. By bus, there are both ordinary and air-conditioned buses from Bangkok- Satun, service from Thai Southern Transportation Station every day, many rounds per day. Estimate duration is 15 hrs
3. By Train, Satun can not be reach by train, however, can take the Bangkok-Yala or Bangkok- Hat Yai and take a bus from Hat Yai to Satun province. Estimate distance is 97 km.
4. By Airplane , there is no direct flight from Bangkok, however, can arrive to Hat Yai and take a bus from Hat Yai to Satun province. Estimate distance is 97 km.
