Highland People Discovery Museum was established in 1965 to be a source of learning for interested students and for younger generation of hill tribe people to learn their history. The museum is divided into 2 parts: 1. Inside the museum building which consists of four floors, divided into various rooms including a documentary room honoring His Majesty the King and his development of the highlands ; a learning room about the 10 highland tribes administered by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, including Karen, Hmong, Mien, Lahu, Lisu, Akha, Lawa,Thin, Khmu and Mlabri; an exhibition about His Majesty the King Bhumibol's highland development project. 2. Outside the museum building which displays imitate houses with tools and appliances and the rituals of the 10 tribes.

Getting There
With private car: From Bangkok, take Highway number 1 (Phaholyothin Road). Then turn left onto Highway number 32 (Asia Route). Pass Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Ang Thong to Nakhon Sawan. Then take Highway number 117, drive to Phitsanulok. Then take Highway number 11 to Lampang, Lamphun until reaching Chiang Mai. From the city center, go straight route number 4032, slight left to route number 121. Use left channel, drive along route number 11. Then turn left, take Super Highway parallel route/Mae Rim, Chiang Mai - Lampang parallel route/route number 2041. Then turn right at Kwang Sing Intersection, drive to Chotana Road. Go straight for 21 m, then turn left. Lanna Rama 9 garden is on the left, the museum is inside.
