The National Maritime Museum has been officially in serviced since 9 January 2001 by the inaugural ceremony presided over by H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra. Permanent exhibitions in the museum are divided into 6 halls as follows;
Hall 1 Displaying trade cargo and lifestyle of mariner - A life-sized replica of the ancient Chinese sailing ship (Junk) which presents lifestyle of mariner and various types of trading goods during olden days. Moreover, Some artifacts that founded underwater i.e. royal bronze mirror, Chinese key, fishing pole, bronze cymbals, pepper, prostate, and duck eggs.
Hall 2 Introduction to Underwater Archaeology Operating Room - Exhibit technical implementation of Underwater Archaeology by simulating underwater archaeological sites in Chanthaburi province and presenting the procedure of underwater working, as well as various equipments that used in actual operation.
Hall 3 Antiques Store house - Apart from displaying antiques in each hall, The antiques are also maintained in special storehouse. One side of each room is a mirror that visitors can see the stored antiques inside.
Hall 4 Ships and mariner lifestyle - In the old days, Thai people have close relationship with a river. This hall displays various types of miniature models of Thai barges and ships for visitors to learn about characteristics and functions that corresponding to the lifestyle of Thai people in each area.
Hall 5 Famous goods of Chanthaburi - The hall present a history of Chanthaburi province since prehistoric times, history period, city establishment, major events and stories of “Chao Chong” a native inhabitant in Chanthaburi. Moreover, This hall provides information of cultural and natural attractions, including famous goods and products of Chanthaburi province.
Hall 6 Personage Hall - The hall narrates a history of King Taksin the great, his duties, activities and major events. King Taksin done a great devotion to Thai people, that he salvaged Thai territory and declared independence, after Thailand had lost the capital city, Ayutthaya, for the second time.
